This is a little bit about my journey to becoming a Licensed & Certified Massage Therapist, Associate Polarity Practitioner, Reiki Master, Intuitive Healer and Energy Healer.
How I Became Interested in Healing
I awoke one morning in the spring of 1984 and had a strong calling to develop the spiritual side of my life. I started back attending church, began re-birthing ( a circular breating technique that clears emotional stress and trauma), had about 50 re-birthing sessions, and attended the Loving Relationships Training Re-birthing breathe training school. The Aids epidemic hit Atlanta hard in the 1980s. I lost many friends to this disease and I felt the desire to help others cope with it. I trained at the Attitudinal Awareness Center as a support group facilitator. I learned how to listen to others and how to offer support in a loving way. I assisted people living with Aids in support groups for five years. The center was based on the Course In Miracles principles. This was a big growing period for me. I studied the power of prayer. I decided to attend massage therapy school and became certified and licensed in Massage Therapy in Georgia.
What Came Next - Related InterestsMeanwhile, I had developed an interest in understanding sacred sites and earth power points. Martin Grey was presenting a slide-show of his sacred site pilgrimages at the 14th Street Playhouse. When Martin showed a photo of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico I began crying. I felt drawn to visit this place.I traveled with Martin and ten other pilgrims on a vision quest to the sacred mountains of the Navajo Naton in the Four Corners region. While there, I received a polarity treatment from one of the other pilgrims on the trip. I instantly knew I had to learn more about this therapy. Upon returning to Atlanta, I located and studied at the Polarity Therapy Program at the Buckhead Atlanta Polarity Center's Associate Polarity Therapy program over a year. My next training was Intuitive Healing with Beth Katona, an LMT, shaman, intuitive healer, and light-body activator. This training focused on psychic scanning and healing of the mental, emotional, and physical bodies and accessing the light body of the realized person. I followed this with Reiki 1,2,3 training with Sandra Lemeiux. Reiki is a powerful healing tool and I loved the training. My current study is in the field of Sound Therapy. I look forward to offering more of this powerful modality in the near future.
David Whaley- BackgroundI was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1953. I was brought up in the Baptist church, then attended other churches. I found a home at St Mark United Methodist Church on Peachtree St in Midtown. I sing in the choir (Sound Therapy) and love worship there. My immediate family still lives in the Atlanta area. If you stay in a fast growing place like Atlanta for very long, most things change around you. It is never boring. It is almost as good as traveling! I attended the University of Georgia School of Environmental Design and spent years designing and installing landscapes. I also worked in the food industry for years in a four star restaurant. My journey into healing has been the passion of my life. I love to share the gifts I have with others.
